  1. The writer circles back around to the extended family of Abraham.
  2. We learn of the death of Sarah.
  3. Abraham acquired his first permanent property in the Promised Land.
• Applications
  1. Death is a real parting…
  2. …but for Christians it is not an eternal parting. Burials hint at the promise of life to come.
  3. Like Abraham, Christians are called to be sojourners and foreigners.
  4. It is good and right to make simple provision for your body to be taken care of after you have died, but it is even better to make provision to take care of your soul and the souls of those around you.
